1836 Ranch & Horse Company is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and conservation of diverse equine breeds and disciplines. Our mission is to provide equine therapy, supporting veterans, their families, and others—to promote positive, productive mental health. We have Certified Mental Health First Aid and First Aid/CPR personnel on site.
We are committed to offering a safe, stress-free environment where veterans, their loved ones, and individuals facing manageable emotional health challenges can heal through the unique bond shared with horses.
One of our most deeply valued initiatives is our "Safe Haven for Heroes and Horses" program. Our founders come from a proud lineage of veterans and understand firsthand the difficulties faced during the transition to civilian life, as well as the emotional and mental health struggles that can strain family relationships.
Similarly, many of the horses we rescue have endured hardships of their own—neglect from former owners, aggressive removal from natural grasslands, and uncertainty about their futures. These shared experiences foster a powerful empathy between horse and human, creating connections that lead to mutual healing and hope.
